the slipper chair

Hands down. One of my VERY favorite chairs is the Slipper Chair. Classic, timeless, yet “updatable”, this chair is at the tippy top of my favorites list.

Said to be created by American decorator Billy Baldwin in the early 1950’s and inspired by the “Lawson sofa”, the slipper chair is a must have that works in just about every room. Timeless, functional, AND oh, so comfortable. In fact, Baldwin once said, “Small women and football linebackers find it equally comfortable.” Lightweight, moves with ease, wide seats and armless, “one can move in three different directions”- which in my book means its perfect for welcoming and entertaining guests over conversation and cocktails!

Even more, it invites just about any fabric color or print, height, or dimension, you’d be hard pressed not to feel right at home in these beauties.

Hat tip to Baldwin who had the vision to introduce to these chairs that are still loved today. billybaldwinstudio.com
